A look back in time - our first trip to Mexico City

August 12, 2006 - Day 2

This morning we were woken up by the laughter of young children.  Some of those who know Spanish (Kiki, Niesha, Heather and Lauren) had the chance to get to know these kids and we all became fast friends!  During our much needed Fiesta prep-time, the puppets were a big hit with the kids.  We all just had so much fun despite the language barrier, and really enjoyed the kids.

August 16, 2006 - Day 6

Day 3 of VBS and even more kids!  We are having a blast getting to know these kids, and they are teaching us how to show love without using words.  They are all capturing our hearts and we love them so much.  We're even trying to figure out ways to bring them home with us!  Their smiles and laughter just brighten our days.

After a short siesta and an intense football shootout, we put some elbow grease into cleaning up the church.  Although it was hard work and very tiring, we were so happy to be able to give back something after all they've given us and done for us.

Tonight worship and our team meeting were held in the cramped back rom of the kitchen because Isaac was leading a prayer night in the sanctuary.  It was crowded, but comfortable.  We received a letter from our "mom" Christine!  It gave us such a boost to hear from someone at home, and put a lot of thoughts into our minds.  It was great to share with everyone what God has taught us on this trip so far.

Since it was Lauren's birthday, Pastor Jaime and his family came to celebrate with tacos and chocolate cake.  Lauren was so overwhelmed by all their love she received, it will be a birthday she never forgets.

This is just a small taste of what our first trip was like.  If you'd like to go back in time to read all that happened when it happened, visit http://mobymexico.blogspot.com.
